Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to an inclusive web
Effective Date: April 20, 2026 | Last Updated: April 20, 2026
1. Our Commitment
Rebirth in Christ is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. The rebirthday card is a personal, pastoral moment; we want the page that gets you there to welcome you, not block you.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, the widely adopted technical standard for web accessibility published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
2. Measures We Take
In building and maintaining the site, we try to:
- Use semantic HTML so assistive technology can understand the structure of each page.
- Provide keyboard-navigable components, including a "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page.
- Maintain sufficient color contrast between text and background.
- Add alt text to meaningful images and mark decorative images as such.
- Use descriptive link text (not "click here") so screen-reader users can understand links out of context.
- Build a responsive layout that adapts to zoom, small screens, and varying orientations.
- Label form fields clearly and provide helpful error messages.
3. Conformance Status
The site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most of the content meets the guideline, but some parts do not yet fully meet all the criteria.
We have chosen this honest language because we have not yet completed a full third-party accessibility audit. Claiming full conformance without that audit would be inaccurate, and we'd rather tell you the truth.
4. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where the site may fall short of full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance, and we are actively working to improve them:
- Auto-playing hero video. Our home page and church-facing page include a muted, looping background video. While it is muted by default, automatic motion can be distracting for some visitors. A user-controlled pause option is on our improvement list.
- Card-flip animation. The example card on our home page uses a 3D flip animation on hover. Users relying exclusively on keyboard navigation may experience this differently than mouse users. A keyboard-equivalent toggle is on our improvement list.
- Visual focus indicators. Focus indicators have been added to most interactive elements, but not yet every one. We are sweeping the site to ensure every focusable element has a visible focus state that meets WCAG 2.4.7 (Focus Visible).
- Form validation messages. Our signup forms use native browser validation for some fields. Screen-reader announcements of those messages can vary across browsers. We are evaluating a consistent in-line approach.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier that isn't on this list, we want to hear about it. See Section 5 for how to tell us.
5. Feedback and Contact
If you experience an accessibility barrier on our site, have a suggestion for improvement, or need help accessing any part of the service, please let us know:
- Email: legal@rebirthinchrist.com
- Mailing address: Rebirth in Christ, 3410 Airway Boulevard, Amarillo, TX
We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to provide an update on the specific concern shortly after. If you need the information on a particular page in a different format (for example, a plain-text version of a document), we'll do our best to provide it.
6. Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology
The site is designed to work with the latest two major versions of the following browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari
- Microsoft Edge
We aim for compatibility with the following screen readers and assistive technologies:
- JAWS (Windows)
- NVDA (Windows)
- VoiceOver (macOS and iOS)
- TalkBack (Android)
The site may not work correctly with older browsers or with assistive technology that is not listed above. If you rely on a tool we haven't mentioned and you hit a barrier, please write to us - we will do our best to help.
7. How We Assess Accessibility
We assess accessibility through a combination of:
- Self-evaluation. Internal reviews using automated tools (such as Lighthouse and axe) and manual keyboard and screen-reader testing.
- Third-party audit. We intend to commission an independent WCAG 2.2 AA audit. A formal audit is to be scheduled, and this statement will be updated after it is complete.
- Ongoing feedback. Reports from visitors who encounter barriers, which directly shape our fix list.
